Pedestrian Crossing Assessments

At SDS, we take pedestrian safety seriously. That's why we use our First/Last mile methodology to evaluate the appropriateness of pedestrian crossings. We aim to ensure that all crossing locations are safe and accessible. With this approach, we can identify any potential hazards and make the necessary changes to improve the safety of our pedestrians. Implementing this methodology can create a safer and more walkable community for all.

Our approach considers the various movements from different land uses and mobility nodes to analyse the potential impacts and user types a crossing might encounter on an entirely new network without baseline information.

Regarding signal-controlled junctions, there's no denying that pedestrian crossings significantly affect how efficiently the network operates. That's why we've developed a methodology for prioritising the location of these crossings, focusing on improving overall transport efficiency without negatively impacting pedestrians. By carefully considering the placement of these crossings, we can ensure that everyone can move through the junction as safely and efficiently as possible.
